The path of health and friendship runs along the former narrow-gauge railway line Parenzana, which connected Trieste and Poreč and became a symbol of friendship between Slovenian, Italian and Croatian municipalities. Parenzana leads through old towns and villages, by the sea and among vineyards and olive groves, it leads through short lighted and arranged tunnels, crosses valleys and climbs over hills.

Join the Parenzana cycling or walking trail between Izola and Sečovlje in Izola, at the crossroads between Leninova and Prešernova streets, head towards the hills in the hinterland and then soon notice the sign for the cycling trail. Turn right in the direction of Strunjan and Portorož. The signs mostly guide us well along a varied and undemanding path. Soon we come across the illuminated Chalet tunnel (214 m). Among the vineyards and olive groves, follow the cycling sign, direction Portorož, past Dobrava, Strunjan to the 550 m long, also illuminated Valletta tunnel. We descend to Lucija and, taking into account the traffic signals, head past the motor camp towards Forma viva, to which a slight ascent leads us. We continue our way past Seča (where we cross the main road) and Parecaga to Sečovlje.

Along the Karst edge we find a whole series of ruins of former fortifications and defense towers, which show that this border area was a century-old scene of battles between the Venetian Republic and the Habsburgs.
